It was an unexpected occurrence at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) this Wednesday at the Presidential Villa when ministers assembled for the weekly meeting to the surprise absence of President Muhammadu Buhari. Though the absence of the President did not stop the meeting, National Daily gathered, however, that there was no notice of such before the meeting.
The meeting was successfully conducted by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, who ordered for the recitation of the national anthem at a time the ministers were still expecting the arrival of the President.
The President has never been absent from any FEC meeting since his return from London march 10, 2017, after weeks of vacation in the United Kingdom.
National Daily gathered that the Minister of Defense, Dan Ali Mansur, handled the Muslim opening prayer, while the Minister of Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah did the Christian prayer.
Meanwhile, National Daily gathered that there is no cause for concerns in the Presidency. The President, a source said, may have decided to take some rest for the day, spending his time on light duties. However, official statement is being expected from the Presidency before some stakeholders in the polity begin to misinterpret the situation out of context.
