The Chairman of the Governing Board of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has called on Catholic Faithfuls in Nigeria and worldwide to be obedient to the teachings of the Mission, decisions and wisdom of the Holy Father, His Holiness, Pope Francis, in all Ecclesiastical matters.

He emphasized that the Pope is the Supreme head of the Universal church of God here on earth, being the successor of St Peter, the Apostle of Christ Jesus and the first Pope.

Ndoma-Egba said this in his opening remarks while chairing the grand reception in honor of the newly ordained and installed Bishop of Ogoja Diocese, His Grace, Most Reverend Donatus Edet Akpan in Ogoja.

“We of the Ogoja Diocese asked and prayed for a Bishop and God has given us one. We did not ask for a Bishop from any particular Dioceses. We are very happy and thank God for the Bishop He has given to us through the Holy Father, Pope Francis. We are totally loyal to the Pope who is the representative of Christ here on earth and loyal to our Bishop, His Grace, Most Rev. Donatus Edet Akpan, as the Bishop of Ogoja Diocese.

“I wish to appeal to all Catholics that the Catholic Church is not a political party where positions are zoned according to ethnicity or otherwise, but the Universal church where God freely chooses his servants through the help of the Holy Spirit working through the Holy Father the Pope,” Ndoma-Egba declared.

The NDDC boss urged all to give constituted authorities, both in the church and in Government, the needed cooperation for the betterment of the society as a whole.

Ndoma-Egba charged all to continue to pray for President Muhammadu Buhari, stressing that it is a Biblical injunction that Christians ought to pray for their leaders.

“The Holy Bible urges us to pray for the wellbeing of our leaders and peace in our Land, as our prosperity is tied to our leaders and indeed, the land being at peace” he added.
