The Edo State Association of Deaf has appealed for government support to realize its objectives as it marks its 2015 International week for the deaf (IWD).

The Chairman of the association Mr. Ekhorutomwen Iyobosa,  said in Benin City, that the AGM cum International week of the deaf is the greatest deaf fiesta and the most powerful assembly of deaf in all member countries of the federation of the deaf

He said: “this year’s edition which was earlier slated to hold from November 1-7, 2015 had to be postponed to November 24-29, 2015 due to logistics challenges.

“This is in spite of the fact that the hosting right was granted to the state on a platter of gold, especially considering the competitiveness and stringent rules associated with such host,” Iyobosa expressed.

The theme for this year AGM/IWD is “Deaf Right, a panacea to achieving the change agenda.”

Iyobosa averred that if the  need mantra must be harnessed, the deaf must be carried along if we are to achieve the wind of positive changes across the country to all segment of the citizenry.

He emphasized that: “this is the only avenue through which all topical issues affecting the deaf in relation to government policy thrust and change agenda are discussed and solution proffered for the identified topical issues.

The chairman, therefore, called on the state government, private and public spirited individuals and organized private sectors in the state to give all necessary supports and collaborations toward the successful hosting of this epoch making event.
