Obaseki awaits Falconets in Benin City

The Nigeria Football Federation has made a slight shift on the arrival of the U20 Women national team tagged Falconets, for this weekend’s World Cup qualifier against Tanzania in the modernized city of Benin, the Edo State capital.

National Daily gathered that with all logistics in place the team was to land in Benin City on recently with the Executive Governor of the state, His Excellency Godwin Obaseki along with his deputy, Comrade Philip Shuaibu, planning a surprise visit to pump up the team ahead the game against Tanzania.

However, the change in the movement of the team  recently has also altered plans of the Edo State government, which is bankrolling the World Cup qualifier, with the Nigeria Women’s League also to be hosted in Benin City  looming around the corner next month.

Edo FA Chairman, Frank Ilaboya, insists all necessary logistics have been put in place to not only play a good host to the team but ensure that they win and win handsomely, as Nigeria remains the standard bearer in African Women’s football.  “Everything needed to keep the team in good stead ahead of Saturday World Cup qualifier has  been put in place, as the Governor and his deputy are directly in charge because we are talking of a national team, on our part as the FA, we will do our best to assist our parent body the NFF”, Ilaboya declared.

Chairperson of the Nigeria Professional Women’s League, Aisha Falode, also assured that she will be on ground on time to ensure that the U20 national team get all required support to do well. “ As a daughter of the soil, I know what it takes to help the girls navigate their way through this qualifiers, because as we have come to realize there are no longer small teams in football globally, and am ready to do my best”.
