Okowa to reposition the youth in the state

Delta State Government has expressed its determination to repositioning the youth in order to make them become economically viable.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths Development, Comrade Hope George, stated this when he played host to the Delta State Executive of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) and Youth Chairmen drawn from the 25 local government areas of Delta State.

Comrade Hope George noted that the present administration will not relent on its promise of making life better for the Youths. He enjoined youths in the state to make good use of the different entrepreneurial programmes made available by the Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.

Comrade Hope George explained that the Youth Agriculture Entrepreneurship Programme (YAGEP)and other empowerment programmes by the Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa will engage six thousand Youth every six months, noting that the SMART Agenda was an agenda for upholding the Youths. While calling on Youths to remain worthy Ambassadors of the state and country. The Senior Special Assistant promised to always support the NYCN, remarking that building the Youth Council to enviable height was his responsibility.

He called on the local government chapter chairmen of the council to partner with non-governmental agencies in their local government areas to enable them generate income for the body as government alone could not do all as that would make them effectively drive their aims and objectives.

Hope George said that the governor had also awakened moribund technical colleges in Agbor, Sapele and Ofagbe to enable the Youths acquire technical skills and be self reliant.

The State Deputy Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Francis Igho Agarivbie, and Chairman of the Chairmen Forum, Comrade Kenneth George, said the visit was to congratulate Comrade Hope George on his appointment as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Youth Development. He commended Governor Okowa for elevating one of their own.

They pleaded with the SSA not to abandon the Youth Council, but use his office to move the Youth Council to enviable heights by ensuring that monthly impress gets to the Youth chairmen to enable them run the affairs of the Local Government, purchase buses for them and organise meaningful Youth programmes.

The leadership of the Youth Council promised to always remain peaceful and to work as a team with Comrade George in order for them to achieve the set goals.
