Hopes by the Senator Ahmed Markafi-led PDP to hold their much talked National Convention is seriously threatened as fierce looking and heavily armed security forces have taken over the Stadium venue of the event.

Sources monitoring the development that many fear may lead to serious breakdown of law and order in Port Harcourt the Rivers State Capital disclosed that the action of the security forces may not be unconnected with the insistence by Justice Okon Abang that the PDP cannot go ahead with the convention and restraining INEC and its Chairman from monitoring the convention.

The armed security forces were said to have been directed by powers above to take over the venue and prevented any further activities at the venue in the wee hours of today.

National Daily gathered that leaders of the party are at the moment holding an emergency meeting at the Rivers State Government House trying to determine the way out of the crisis as delegates have already arrived the garden city for the convention.

Speaking during the Channels TV live morning show, spokesman of the Police Deputy Commissioner Don Awunah claims that the action of the Police is to ensure that there’s no breakdown of Law and order, saying “We are just being proactive and are neutral.”
