There is little or no doubt that Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland is one of the hottest prospects in the football world today.
The 21-year-old Norwegian who has fabulously ended the 2019/2020 season with an outstanding 44 goals in 40 matches was narrowly missed by the Red Devils last summer.
And despite turning down a move to Old Trafford, the Norway international holds his compatriot Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in high regard.
National Daily can confirm that United hierarchy are hoping to build on their manager’s cordial relationship with Haaland as a catalyst to lure the Chelsea target to Old Trafford as previously reported by The Sun.
This becomes more realistic with Solskjaer being recently handed a contract extension at Old Trafford with another three years as it could be thought that Haaland may be willing to join United to reunite with his former boss Solskjaer who once managed him at Molde.
Interestingly, it is believed that the United boss has remained in close contact with the striker since they worked together at the Norwegian side.
Haaland and Solskjaer are believed to maintained a good relationship after their previous union at Molde
The possibility of the Red Devils returning for Haaland this summer especially after capturing his striking partner Jadon Sancho would have appeared ideal for some United faithfuls, but this gesture may definitely seem unrealistic considering the financial implications.
It therefore suggests that the Old Trafford club will rather wait to try and sign him next summer on a cheap considering his reduced £63million release clause.
Meanwhile, while United will be hoping to beat other clubs like Chelsea to the signing of the former RB Salzburg forward next season, the Blues are hoping to avoid that scenario by bringing him to Stamford Bridge this transfer window.
However, there has been little movement, with Dortmund obdurate with the sale of their prolific attacker this summer even when it is believed that Chelsea are willing to go as far as paying a whopping £150m to bring Haaland to the west London club.
