The 2023 presidential election is fast approaching. The electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) has issued a timetable on how the general election will be conducted across the 36 States of the federation.

Many Nigerian politicians have made their intention known to the general public to contest the coveted seat.

Surprisingly, the National Leader of the APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only key APC chieftain from the Southwest region of Nigeria that has openly declared his intention to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 even though the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress have zoned the presidential ticket to the Southern region of Nigeria.

Before his declaration to contest the 2023 presidency, some influential APC chieftains in the Southwest region have been rumoured to be interested in the apex political seat in the country.

Tinubu might have indirectly silent them going by the seriousness and political sagacity he has displayed since he declared for presidency. He has been consulting various political, religious, and traditional rulers in the country ahead of the APC presidential election.

Also, many of those wishing to contest the election might have withdrawn from the presidential race in a bid to support Bola Tinubu who is an enormous party financier, mobilizer, political strategist and to honour him for being a formidable force in the formation of the ruling APC.

Some political gladiators in the southwest APC could have also paused their desire for the presidency for the future to respect Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is considered to be a revered Yoruba leader.
