The politics of the 2023 elections is beginning to take a turn for the worse. The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has announced his intention to run in the 2023 general election under the APC, as he wants to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari as his ally.

It has long been rumored that Tinubu will run for the presidency, but he made the remarks at the residence of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari after meeting him few weeks ago.

Tinubu is a leading figure in the APC, and has played a key role for the ruling party All Progressive Congress APC success in the 2015 and 2019 general elections, and he has been able to establish several of his political members in various constituencies which they now have power ahead of 2023 Nigeria general election.

But despite these opportunities for the so-called APC Leader, there are some major issues that could hinder him in achieving his life-long ambitions.

1. Yemi Osinbajo

First issue that could affect Bola Tinubu presidential ambition in 2023, is Yemi Osibanjo greater support and recognition from northern and southern leaders than Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Let us recall that Ibrahim Babangida, Nigeria’s former president, publicly selected the vice president Yemi Osinbajo as the country’s next president a few weeks ago.

Also, we must remember that Edwin Clark, the leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, PANDEF, followed the trend when he nominated Yemi Osibanjo as one of their favored politicians. This could force Bola Tinubu to resign and team up with Osinbajo to become the next president.

2. APC’s failure to deliver on its promises’

Another major issue that could also stumble Tinubu even if he gets a ticket to run for the APC presidential election in the 2023 is the accusation by may Nigerians that All Progressives Congress APC has failed to deliver on the promises made by the ruling party APC after its victory in 2015.

The APC has made many promises to Nigerians, especially in tackling security, fighting corruption and reviving the economy, but some are of the opinion that none of these promises have been Fulfill by the party.

There are a lot of problems, a lot of things APC promised Nigeria that they failed to do, from poverty to inflation to unemployment, and Tinubu is one of those who made this promises to Nigerians, so is one of the culprits behind the party’s failure at this time and this can hinder his chance of get many Nigerians vote during the 2023 general election.
