The Babangidas were burying their dead–mother and daughter killed during a robbery operation earlier —when something suddenly came home to one of the children.
One of the sympathizers, a young man who actually struck down, and later strangled the daughter, was at the funeral at Dan Tudu quarters, Jibiya LGA, Katsina.
No mistake.
Anas Dahiru, 20, confessed when the police came.
“We were four in number, myself, Muhammed Aliyu, Buhari Umar and Samaila Musa, armed with cutlasses, pestle, and heavy metal,” he narrated on Wednesday.
“We entered through the fence to the house of Muhammadu Babangida to rob.
“Then an old woman saw us and wanted to shout. Muhammadu, our gang leader, quickly used the pestle he was carrying to smash her down.
“I also noticed the daughter saw us and wanted to run away. So I ran after her, knocked her down, and started strangulating her before one of us used the heavy metal he was carrying to hit her on the head and then she passed out.”
That done, Dahiru came back the following to sympathize with the family they robbed and killed.
- Gambo Isah, the state Police Public Relations Officer, while briefing pressmen on the development said aside from killing Muhammadu Babangida’s daughter and 70-year-old mother, the suspects also injured four of his children in the attack.
