insists, “I’m still the senate leader”

Senator Ali Ndume has hit back at the Senate over his removal as Senate Majority Leader this Tuesday.

The senator has vowed to fight back and retain his position in the National Assembly.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) caucus in the Senate were earlier reported to have removed Ali Ndume as their leader. The caucus had elected Senator Ahmed Lawan as his replacement.

The decision was said to have been communicated to the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, who was said to have read a letter sent to him by the APC caucus.

The APC caucus in the Senate had in 2015 rejected Senator Ahmed Lawan as Senate leader after his failure to win the Senate President and supported Ndume for the leadership of the Senate.

Meanwhile, Ndume insisting that he remains the senate leader, At a press briefing this Tuesday, described the turn of events in the upper Chamber as laughable.

Meanwhile, National Daily investigation revealed that the trend in the Senate is not unconnected with the reconciliation initiative between President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu towards restoring peace and strengthening the party. There are indications that more upsets will happen in the APC as Tinubu may be restored most of the privileges taken away from him over the years.
