General Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, formerly known as Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare has been accused of lying against Ndigbos to favour the 2023 presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu, National Leader of the All Progressives Congress.
It was alleged that the outspoken pastor was given a whopping $5m by the former Lagos state governor to create enmity between the North and the Southeast in order to portray Tinubu as a friend of the north.
In a viral video Bakare had claimed that Tafawa Balewa cursed the Igbos the day he was killed. He said they removed his turban, poured wine on his head and forced him to drink before he was shot dead.
He cursed them saying that no one from the Igbo tribe will rule the country.

However, in a previous interview with the Chief. Olusegun Osoba, former Governor of Ogun State who was a young reporter for the Daily Times during the period of the coup in 1966, he had stated that he saw the bodies of both Abubakar Tafawa Balewa and Okotiebo somewhere by the roadside along Lagos Abeokuta Road.
Chief Osoba said the body of Abubakar that he saw on the day in question was fully clothed and fresh with no bullet holes.
“I would not say Tafawa Balewa died of asthma for the fact that I am not a medical doctor. But as an eye witness, the body (of Balewa) that I saw was a fresh body. Fani- Kayode, I can understand his emotions, but I think he is getting too emotional and indirectly politicizing history,” Osoba said in the interview.
Most people who watched the viral video are now picking holes in his assertion, noting that Pastor Tunde Bakare was just 11 years old in 1966 when the sad events occurred. Furthermore, of all the books written on the war and the coup and counter coups of 1966 and 1967, none of them has Bakare’s version of this story.
These and many more unanswered questions have led people to begin to ask questions about who Bakare is working for and what their mission is with this satanic version from the pit of hell.
According to them, after the so-called “Balewa’s curse”, the next person to rule Nigeria after Balewa ~ was Gen Aguiyi-Ironsi an Igbo.
