Despite former President Goodluck Jonathan refuting the claim within and outside the APC he is defecting to the ruling party to succeed President Muhammadu Buhar in 2023i, more insinuation and suspicion are cascading in.
And the confusion has started building a stonewall against his ambition—in case it is true.
The party caretaker committee has welcome him if he wants to hop in, and has given him a waiver to contest. But nothing like automatic ticket.
Then the party’s Elders Advisory Council in Oyo has reinforced that. He may defect, the group said, but he cannot get the ticket.
Chairman of APC Elders Council in the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, stated this October 3 while featuring on Agidigbo 88.5 FM in Ibadan.
“I am not saying Jonathan can’t join APC but he can’t be president under APC in 2023, he said.
“I’m not saying Jonathan can’t be president but it can never be under APC in 2023 because some people are on the queue already.”
I case the PDP former president is truly interested I coming back, he has to pluck up his spirit.
His former party men and loyalists are already warning him.
Rivers Gov Nyesom Wike has vowed not to support him.
Others have insisted Jonathan is setting himself up for a fall if he defects to run in 2023.
