All Lagos state governor in the All Progressive Congress elected in the past has always contented for the second tenure, as we have seen in the past years.

No doubt that the present governor of the mega-city will also like to contest for the second tenure in 2023, where Babajide Sanwo Olu will like to exercise power again for the second time in which the party will hold their primary by late 2022 or early 2023.

In the past year, we have witnessed several elections in Lagos state, and the All Progressive Congress (APC) has exercised the power of democracy more than any other party in Lagos state. Right from the days, the party was known as Action Congress.

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu ruled as the governor of Lagos under the All Progressive from 1999 to 2007 and has ever since been the backbone of the All Progressive Congress. He is the national leader of the All Progressive Congress.

All candidates endorsed by Tinubu are always winning the Lagos State governorship election. Due to his influence, the All Progressive Congress is the one- party with the most supporters in Lagos state.

And no doubt that has made each candidate Tinubu endorse win both first tenure and second tenure elections.

The like of ex-governor Fashola, Ambode, and even the present Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu was endorsed by Tinubu.

If Sanwo Olu wants to run or have the ambition to run for the Lagos governorship election in 2023, he should be in good term with the national leader of the All Progressive Congress.

In 2019, before Babajide Sanwo Olu was endorsed by Tinubu, Governor Ambode was the sitting governor of Lagos at that time. Ambode just finished his first tenure in office and was planning to run for the second term, but had an issue with the National leader of the party, which almost lead to his impeachment, and later was not able to run for the second tenure.

This occurred because he was on good terms with the party’s national leader.
