Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has declared that northern voters will throw their weight behind President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Ganduje made the assertion while citing the president’s political acumen and strategic skills as key factors that will secure northern support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The former Kano State governor’s statement represents a significant political endorsement, given the crucial role northern votes have historically played in determining the outcome of Nigeria’s presidential elections.
“Northern voters will support President Tinubu in 2027 because of his political skill and leadership,” Ganduje stated, expressing confidence in the president’s ability to retain the region’s backing.
The declaration comes as political calculations for the 2027 elections begin to take shape, with various political actors positioning themselves ahead of the crucial poll.
Ganduje’s endorsement may be aimed at consolidating support for Tinubu within the APC and countering any potential opposition from northern political interests who might favor a different candidate.
The 2027 election is expected to be highly competitive, with the northern voting bloc remaining a decisive factor in determining Nigeria’s next president.
