Here are five key factors that could stop Victor Osimhen from completing a move to the West London side, Chelsea in the June 2024 transfer window.

Arguably one of the biggest attacking forward in European club football today, Vi9ctor Osimhen has become a household name and a primary target for top clubs across different leagues. Although the CAF African Player of the Year agreed to a new contract with Napoli, football fans and experts alike sense that the Nigerian forward’s days in the Serie A might just be numbered.

The English Premier League has seen some of its top sides Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and many more all show interest to sign Victor Osimhen but one club we are positive won’t be in the convrsation to sign him is the London side Chelsea and here is why:

Victor Osimhen’s desire for top flight football in Europe (Champions League)

Like every great player, the desire to play football on the biggest of stages such as the Champions League would be on of the key factors that influences the decision of Victor Osimhen if he is to complete an move away from Napoli.

With Chelsea out of all UEFA competitions for now, the Blues is looking like the last option Victor Osimhen would want to consider if he decides to move to England.

Chelsea and Financial Fair Play Laws

With Chelsea currently under scrutiny and investiagtion, making such a high profile buy which is estimated to cost them over 120 million pounds would bring the football association knocking at their door especially if no sale is made.

Chelsea remains under investigation and could possibly face point deduction and adding such an expense to their books now might further put the club in a tight spot.

Victor Osimhen’s personal ambition

Victor Osimhen

Following his finish in the top 10 ranking of the Ballon d’Or 2023, football experts believe that Victor Osimhen’s career at the global level is just kick starting and the Nigerian international could be poised for a possible top 3 finish in the coming years.

From his hunger, desire and passion to compete for every ball, Victor Osimhen’s personal ambition is clear and that is to be in the conversation of the best players of his generation and one of the greatest to represent his country and the continent as a whole. Choosing the stage to achieve this ambition is what would shape his future in the coming years.

As of now Chelsea FC does not offer that platform for the Nigerian international to compete with some of the best and it is looking more and more unlikely for that to happen in the next two or three seasons.

Victor Osimhen’s future wage structure

At the moment Victor Osimhen is one of the highest paid African footballers with the Nigerian earning over 200,000 per week. A move to Chelsea would most definitely see him negotiate for a higher pay and with Chelsea looking to cut down on the wage structure of the club it is looking more and more unlikely they meet this demand.

Many might speculate with Thiago Silva in the final months of his contract he opens room for Victor’s wages to be accomodated but this is far from it because as of now, Osi currently earns more than the Brazilian legend.

The current quality of Chelsea’s squad

Chelsea vs Manchester City

It can not be disputed that the Chelsea squad at the moment consists of some of the best young talents in the world of football today, but in some cases this talent often take time to develop or be nutured into quality play. This has been a huge challenge the club has faced since the new administration took over.

The new owners have made their ambition clear and that is to develop the talents for the future. This is definitely not what Victor Osimhen would be looking out for as the Nigerian international is a serial winner and one key thing that would be on his mind is to win trophies.

With a squad many categorise as naive, this might not be the goal for Chelsea in the next two season which has been speculated to be one of the key moments of Osimhen’s career.
