Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, has been in London, the United Kingdom, for about three months. The former governor had surgery in the United Kingdom, according to reports.
Since Tinubu came to the United Kingdom, prominent Nigerian politicians have turned his London residence into Mecca and Jerusalem. Several governors, senators, and lawmakers have visited Tinubu in London in the last three months.
President Muhammadu Buhari also visited Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in his London residence a few weeks ago. The former governor was spotted with a walking stick in a picture posted on social media by Buhari’s media team.
Last week, the national leader hosted Northern lawmakers led by the Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase, in London. Tinubu’s recent pictures show that he is fast recovering from the surgery.
However, there are some close friends and allies of the former governor who are yet to visit him in London amid health challenges. They include:
1. Yemi Osinbajo
The Vice President is a close associate to Tinubu. He served as the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Lagos State during Tinubu’s tenure. Tinubu was also instrumental in his emergence as the vice president in 2015.
Osinbajo hasn’t visited Tinubu in London amid health challenges.
2. Babatunde Raji Fashola
The Minister of Works and Housing is a close friend of Tinubu. Fashola succeeded Tinubu as the governor of Lagos State in 2007. Fashola’s name is missing among Tinubu’s visitors registered in London in the last three months.
3. Rauf Aregbesola
The Minister of Internal Affairs also served as Lagos Commissioner for Works during Tinubu’s tenure. He is a longtime friend and ally of Tinubu. The former governor of Osun State hasn’t been seen in London in recent times.
4. Sunday Dare
The Minister for Youths and Sports was a close aide to Tinubu during his tenure as Lagos Governor. Dare hasn’t visited Tinubu in London amid health challenges.
5. Akinwunmi Ambode
Ambode is also a close associate of Tinubu. He served as Accountant-general of Lagos State during Tinubu’s tenure. Tinubu was also instrumental in his emergence as the governor of Lagos State in 2015. Although Ambode had a sore relationship with Tinubu when he was denied the opportunity to return as governor in 2019, however, Ambode is still loyal to Tinubu’s camp.
