A Kano State High Court, on Monday restrained an online publication, Daily Nigerian Newspaper and the Publisher, Jafaar Jafaar, from further publication of the ‘bribery’ videos which displayed Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State allegedly collecting $5 million bribe from certain contractors in the state. The court delivering a preliminary judgment on a N3 billion libel suit filed by the governor, granted an interim injunction restraining Jafar from further publication of the videos.
National Daily gathered that the State High Court in its judgement on Monday, prohibited Jafaar and Daily Nigerian, listed as the first and second defendants, and their agents from “publishing, sharing or spreading videos injurious to the plaintiff/applicant pending the determination of the substantive application slated for hearing on the 6th of December 2018”.
The contractor behind the videos was said to have declared readiness to testify before the Kano State House of Assembly Committee investigating the bribery videos.
The Kano Legislature recently suspended the investigations in compliance with a court order.
