The Plateau Police Command on Sunday confirmed the killing of six people on Saturday night at Taagbe village in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The attack was allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani militants about midnight, and lasted for several minutes.
National Daily gathered that the unfortunate incident was coming barely 24 hours after the imposition of a curfew by the State Governor, Simon Lalong, in Bassa LGA.
Confirming the incident, the Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Tyopev Terna told our correspondent in Jos that five persons were also injured as a result of the attack, while about ten homes were razed down.
Our correspondent also gathered that the incident followed reported threats of attacks in a community near Jos Wild Life Park, about 5km away from Taagbe, few hours earlier before the incident.
It was learnt that necessitated the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on the area to enable security check with a view to dealing with the threats of attacks.
A witness, however, told our reporter that the Fulani boys came in their numbers, swooped on the villagers at midnight and attacked them ferociously.
“Fulani boys have overpowered security agencies, you can imagine with the curfew in place, they still struck. Only God can save us and nothing more”, he reiterated.
