76% of Osun voters have PVC – INEC Boss

The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has said that 76 percent of registered voters in Osun State have their Permanent Voters Card.
Prior to the governorship election on Saturday, he made this statement on Tuesday at the Election stakeholder’s Meeting held by INEC in Osogbo, Osun State.
Mahmood stated, “Many of the PVCs have already been collected by individuals,” when announcing an extension of the PVC collection in Osun State through Thursday. 
As of Sunday, July 10, 2022, 1,479,595 of Osun State’s 1,955,657 registered voters have picked up their ballots, or 76 percent.

Speaking at the event, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, appealed to both electorate and politicians to follow the election guidelines and be peaceful in their conduct during the election.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, said 21,000 police personnel will be deployed for the election.
