Information Minister, VON DG to lead ARCON’s 2026 Advertising Industry Colloquium
The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) has announced the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, as the Chief Host of the fourth edition of the Advertising Industry Colloquium (AIC 4.0), while the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Jibrin Baba Ndace, will serve as Chairman of the event.
The annual colloquium, themed “The Future of Advertising: Roles of Platforms, People and Regulations,” is scheduled to take place on August 6, 2026, at D’Podium Event Centre, 13B Aromire Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to ARCON, the event will convene leading stakeholders from Nigeria’s advertising, marketing and communications ecosystem, including advertisers, advertising agencies, media organisations, academics, creative professionals, technology platforms, regulators, policymakers and other industry participants.
The council said the colloquium has become an important annual platform for fostering dialogue between academia and industry, aimed at advancing scholarship, professionalism and innovation in advertising and marketing communications.
ARCON noted that this year’s edition forms part of its broader strategy to encourage conversations on emerging trends shaping the advertising industry while promoting a regulatory environment that supports responsible advertising, ethical practices, innovation and sustainable growth.

The council said the participation of Minister Mohammed Idris as Chief Host reflects the Federal Government’s recognition of the strategic role advertising plays in Nigeria’s information and communications landscape.
According to ARCON, the minister’s involvement underscores the government’s commitment to promoting responsible communication, strengthening the creative economy and creating an enabling environment for the growth of Nigeria’s advertising and marketing sectors.
As Chairman of the colloquium, Jibrin Baba Ndace is expected to provide strategic direction for the event, drawing on his extensive experience in journalism, public communication and media administration.
ARCON expressed confidence that his leadership would contribute significantly to the success of this year’s edition.
The 2026 Advertising Industry Colloquium will feature keynote addresses, expert panel discussions and interactive sessions examining the evolving relationship between digital platforms, industry practitioners and regulatory institutions.
Participants are expected to explore how technological advancements, changing consumer behaviour and evolving regulatory frameworks are redefining advertising and strategic communications in Nigeria.
The council said discussions would also examine practical approaches to strengthening ethical standards, enhancing consumer protection and ensuring sustainable industry development.
ARCON described the event as another milestone in its efforts to bridge the gap between academic research and industry practice through sustained “town and gown” engagement.
The council encouraged stakeholders across the advertising, media, marketing and communications sectors, as well as members of the public, to participate in the colloquium.
The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria is Nigeria’s statutory regulator for advertising practice. It is responsible for promoting ethical advertising standards, protecting the public interest and ensuring that advertising communications in the country remain truthful, responsible, decent and compliant with applicable laws and professional standards.
The announcement was signed by Rotimi Olatunji, Chairman of the National Planning Committee for the Advertising Industry Colloquium and Journal Committee.
