Aaron Ramsdale has learnt his fate at Arsenal amidst the transfer speculation surrounding David Raya.

Ramsdale will remain Arsenal’s No.1 goalkeeper despite Raya’s possible arrival, National Daily reports.

The Gunners look to make a shock deal to bring goalkeeper Raya to the Emirates. Mikel Arteta remains a long-time admirer of his Spanish compatriot.

Ramsdale has been Arsenal’s first choice goalkeeper – with American Matt Turner his understudy. But Arteta now wants to secure a higher quality cover and competition for his No, 1.

Meanwhile, there have been suggestions that Raya would replace Ramsdale as the first choice goalie on arrival at Arsenal –   but National Daily learnt from the Daily Mail’s claim that Arteta will retain the Englishman’s position.

Arteta has been tipped to retain Ramsdale’s position as No. 1 at Arsenal

National Daily learnt that Arsenal have opened talks with Raya’s representatives over personal terms. Brentford however are adamant they will not budge from their £40m valuation.

Raya with just a year left on his contract has previously attracted interests from the likes of Tottenham and Bayern Munich.

Brentford however have already signed a replacement in Mark Flekken, but remained adamant Raya will only leave for their £40m price tag.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank, speaking this week, said: ‘I hope [we get an offer], we are waiting to sell. David would like to go. That’s fine for us. If a club want to buy [him] they just need to find out the price. So I guess it should be simple, but apparently it’s very difficult!

‘He’s worth £40m – I’d love to get that for him. He was one of the four best keepers in the Premier League last season.

Declan Rice went to Arsenal for £105m – is that a fair price? And Harry Kane, one year left, and they’re talking about £150m?

‘Anyway, it’s not up to me. It is always complicated. Two sides of the coin when it comes to negotiations and we meet somewhere in the middle.’
