A journalist with the Arise News, Reuben Abati while reacting to the statement of President Muhammadu Buhari that insecurity should end by December of this year asked what the President will do if the insecurity does not end, Abati said.
“The bigger message that was put across was that the President has now given all the security agencies a deadline. I think it’s December, to wipe out terrorism and banditry in the country. Okay, if the security agencies and the service chiefs fail to do so by December, what will happen? Is the President going to sack them? Have we not seen that change of personnel does not translate into any significant advantages where, you know, security issues are involved?
“We’re told that it was over in the reviews of the recent capital importation data provided by the National Bureau of Statistics, and the experts of Price Water House Coopers and that it is part of the reason why capital importation into Nigeria, particularly in terms of foreign direct investment is very low, is because of security challenges in the country who wants to come and invest in a place where security remains a big issue. So technically, I do not think that the worst is over. And some persons also believe that the worst is not yet over.”
