Residents of Danhonu II community in Kaduna State have taken to the streets in protest following the abduction of seven people by armed bandits, demanding immediate intervention from security agencies.

The victims, drawn from two families in the community, were kidnapped during a raid by gunmen who have been terrorizing the area. The incident has heightened fears among residents who say they have been experiencing recurring attacks by bandits operating with apparent impunity.

Frustrated community members staged a demonstration to draw attention to their deteriorating security situation and to pressure authorities to take decisive action against the criminal elements threatening their lives and livelihoods.

Protesters expressed anger over what they described as inadequate security presence in the area, which has emboldened kidnappers to strike repeatedly. They called on both state and federal governments to deploy more security personnel to the community and surrounding areas to protect residents and prevent further abductions.

The kidnapping crisis has become a major concern across Kaduna State and other parts of northwestern Nigeria, where armed bandits regularly attack rural communities, abducting residents for ransom and displacing thousands from their homes. The frequency of such incidents has disrupted economic activities and forced many families to abandon their farms and businesses.

Community leaders emphasized that the latest abduction represents just one episode in a pattern of insecurity that has plagued Danhonu II and neighboring settlements. They warned that without urgent security intervention, residents may be forced to flee their ancestral homes.

As of the time of this report, there was no official confirmation regarding whether ransom demands had been made or if security forces had launched rescue operations for the seven abducted victims. The families of the kidnapped individuals remain anxious as they await news of their loved ones’ fate.
