The Abia State Government has announced plans to train 2,000 master trainers for teachers in the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, disclosed this during a press briefing following the executive council meeting presided over by Governor Alex Otti.
Kanu stated that 200 teachers have already completed the training, and the remaining 1,800 will undergo the program soon.
As part of the Abia State School Enhancement Team Program, the Abia State Basic Education Board has screened and shortlisted 40 teachers for training.
The government has also implemented measures to enhance security in public schools by posting security personnel to safeguard lives and property.

In addition to these initiatives, the state government has earmarked 5,746 ASUBEB staff for promotion as a motivation for greater productivity.
The newly upgraded eye center at the Abia Specialist Hospital in Amachara is also set to be commissioned on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
