The National Chairman of Labour Party (LP) Barrister (Dr.) Julius Abure has commissioned an ultra-modern party secretariat donated by a new entrant in Ajeromi Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Hon. Francis Bathlomew Chima who officially decamped from Peoples Democratic Party to LP.
Hon. Chima fondly called ‘Omobarca’ was admitted into the LP fold by Barr. Abure alongside other National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, the Lagos state Chairman Pastor Mrs. Dayo Ekong, Labour party’s governorship candidate in 2023 general elections Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour (GRV) and other state executive.
Abure elated over the newly admitted member-Omobarca hinted that the secretariat indicates a huge political advancement in the Lagos polity.
“The man that is joining us today has given the party a befitting, ultramodern secretariat in this constituency and therefore I have the rare privilege to commission it for the use of this constituency.
“This is essentially the purpose why we have assembled here today.
Abure however, urged all aggrieved members especially in Lagos state to make their case known to the party and they will get respite.
“We take responsibility for those failures we are not making excuses, I appeal to our members in Lagos to put their grievances aside. We can not afford to dwell in the past.
“Once you make your case known to the party, you will be given special consideration.
“Labour party is the party to beat, we will put our house in order and be more stronger following the programme and ideology of the party which is different to other political parties.
“Join us in this renewed quest to make our party the number one party in every elections.”
He however, lamented the refusal of elected LP members to make financial commitments for furtherance of the party’s positive advancement.
The LP Chairman in Lagos Pastor Dayo Ekong was quick to add that unity is germane for the party to further extend its frontiers politically.
“Let’s continue to build LP because that is the next ruling party in Nigeria.”
She also highlighted the reason LP votes was allegedly stolen in 2023 general elections, while urging members to team up and defend their mandate ahead the 2027 elections.
“Late registration of polling units agents was responsible for it and the enemies within who sold out. So to avoid such it is important we work together so that we can identify the faces.”
In his response to the grand reception he got from the Labour Party’s fold, Chima hinted that he decided to decamp to LP because the party’s passion to win.
“I am defecting to labour party today given its national spread and seeing that they are willing to win and I want to win, there is different between half and whole.
“If I am not accepted in Labour Party I don’t think the National chairman will down here to identify with me, it is a sign that I am already accepted in the party.”
LP party faithful thronged the venue of the town hall meeting in Ajeromi Ifelodun federal copnsttituency, representatives from across the local governments in the state were all present.
