Munkaila Adamu has become the second of men using pestles to murder their parents in the north within weeks.
Adamu attacked his 70-year-old father Ahmad Muhammad and his 60-year-old mother Hauwa with a pestle at Unguwar, Gagarawa, Jigawa on Thursday.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, who confirmed the development in a statement said Muhammad, 70, was the village head of the community.
The suspect also injured other people in the community, including Kailu Badugu, 65, and Hakalima Ahmadu, 50, are being treated in the hospital.
The police said they have taken the suspect into custody and commenced an investigation.
Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Aliyu Sale Tafida, has directed that the case should be transfer to SCIID Dutse immediately for discreet investigation and possible prosecution of the culprit.
The first incident happened in Katsina last week an undergraduate known for drug abuse smashed his step-mum’s face, and broke his father’s leg with a pestle.
