The Zenith Bank 2025 Women’s Basketball Premier League delivered high drama today as the Air Warriors secured a hard-fought 64-56 victory over Nigeria Customs at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium’s indoor hall.
The match, part of the league’s Phase One, saw a remarkable turnaround after Air Warriors initially struggled to contain their opponents.
Nigeria Customs began the game with strong momentum, controlling the pace and showcasing composure on both ends of the court.
They closed out the first quarter with a 25-22 lead and extended their advantage in the second, outscoring Air Warriors 12-11 to take a commanding 47-34 lead into halftime.
However, the second half belonged to Air Warriors which they returned to the court with renewed determination and a more aggressive defensive strategy.

The third quarter ended in a tight 11-11 tie, but the defensive pressure from Air Warriors had already begun to take its toll, narrowing the gap to just two points heading into the final period.
In the fourth quarter, Air Warriors’ tactical adjustments proved decisive.
They successfully suppressed Customs’ offensive rhythm and gradually took control of the game, ultimately securing a significant 64-56 victory.
After the game, Air Warriors coach Joshua Eneneche expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance.
“This is our third win and I’m happy. We came determined to win and the team delivered,” he said. He credited the team’s unity and resilience for overcoming a strong opponent like Nigeria Customs, adding that the team would continue to “improve and correct mistakes as the league continues.”
Eneneche also expressed his hope that the team would surpass their last season’s performance, where they reached the final eight but were unable to compete.
In other results from the day’s matches, Royal Aces dominated Kada Stars with a final score of 88-25, while Titans Basketball overpowered Nasarawa Amazons 88-43. In a one-sided contest, Plateau Rocks easily defeated Ham Warriors 79-40.
The league, which began on Tuesday, is scheduled to conclude on August 5 at the same venue. Looking ahead, Air Warriors will face Royal Aces, while Nigeria Customs is set to play Kada Angels.
The tournament features eight teams: Air Warriors, Titans Basketball, Kada Angels, Plateau Rocks, Royal Aces, Nasarawa Amazons, Ham Warriors, and Nigeria Customs.
