Akwa Ibom Government has reiterated commitment to promoting Nigeria’s foreign policy for investment and development.

The state Gov. Udom Emmanuel made this known when he played host to the Ugandan High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Nelson Ocheger, at  the government house, Uyo, on Tuesday.

Emmanuel, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Moses Ekpo, said the state would continue to build relationships with countries for mutual benefits.

He gave the assurance that his administration would leave no stone unturned to establish harmonious relationships with African countries, particularly Uganda, which it shared a lot in common.

“Akwa Ibom State will partner Uganda in the area of trade, agriculture, food sufficiency, industrialisation and general economy.

“The state will strengthen ties with Uganda,” Emmanuel said.

The governor described the high commissioner’s visit as timely, and called on Ugandan Government to invest in shipping, oil and gas in the state.

Earlier, the high commissioner said that his country was interested in partnering Akwa Ibom as one of the richest and most peaceful states in Nigeria.

He said that collaborating with Akwa Ibom in the area of oil will add value to Uganda’s oil production and exploration.

“As members of the Commonwealth of nations, we believe in sharing things in common in the area of agriculture, food production and trade, to create market opportunities for Africa,” he said.
