Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has declared that he will fully support whoever emerges as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate—on the condition that the party conducts a transparent, free, and fair primary election.
Speaking during an X Space discussion tagged “Weekend Politics”, Amaechi stressed his readiness to commit his time, energy, and resources to the campaign of the ADC flagbearer, with the goal of defeating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

“In a free and fair primary, whoever wins will have my full support,” Amaechi stated. “I will be deeply devoted to the campaign and will do everything in my ability to help ADC unseat this current clueless government.”
The former Rivers State governor also took a swipe at the ongoing Lagos-Calabar coastal road project, describing it as “a road for stealing” and vowing to discontinue it if elected president.
He further promised to prioritise electoral reforms, pledging to introduce sweeping changes to Nigeria’s electoral process within his first six months in office.
Amaechi’s comments come amid growing speculation that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi may be eyeing the ADC ticket ahead of the 2027 race.
