The Ondo State security outfit, Amotekun, has arrested 20-year-old Akinmade Friday, who is accused of killing a 65-year-old woman over a disagreement regarding N3,000.

Reports indicate that Friday allegedly attacked the woman with a wooden plank, claiming she had stolen the money from his room.

In a statement to the police, he admitted to striking her on the head twice but insisted he did not intend to kill her.

The elderly woman later succumbed to her injuries.

Amotekun Commander, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, addressed the media, revealing that Friday’s arrest is part of a larger operation that resulted in the detention of 27 suspects for various offenses across Ondo State.

Among those arrested were a 21-year-old man facing attempted murder charges and a 30-year-old involved in malicious damage, cultism, and assaults on law enforcement officers.

Adeleye highlighted a concerning trend of increasing crimes, such as housebreaking and violent offenses, which he attributed to the current economic situation.
