UEFA has unveiled the top three nominees for the Men’s and Women’s Player of the Year in the 2021/2022 season. The football federation will announce the winners during the 2022/2023 UCL group stage draw ceremony hosted on 25th August at Instanbul’s Halic Congress Center.
During the same occasion, the organizers will also award the coach that had the biggest impact on the 2021/2022 campaign.
UEFA Men Player of the Year
For the men player of the year award, UEFA’s technical study group selected a list of 15 players depending on their performance at the national team and club level during the 2021/2022 season. The tip three nominees selected by the jury comprising coaches of teams participating in 2021/2022 for the group stages of UEFA Europa League, UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa Conference league. The jury also comprised a group of journalists picked by the ESM (European Sports Media).
The journalists and coaches were asked to choose the top three players from a list of 15 and allocate them one, three and five points. The results were based on the total votes cast, but coaches weren’t allowed to vote for players in their team.

For the men coach of the year award, lists of six coaches were shortlisted by the technical study group. Similarly, the top three coaching nominees were chosen by the jury of coaches from the teams that played in the 2021/2022 UEFA Europa League, Europa Conference League and UCL group stages.

For the female player award, the original shortlist featured 22 players chosen by the technical study group depending on their performance in the 2021/2022 season. The jury voted the top three candidates, comprising coaches from clubs participating in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 and the UEFA Women’s Champions League (2021/2022).
The top three female players shortlisted from the list of 22 players include:
