The All Progressives Congress (APC) has restructured the leadership of its 2026 National Convention Central Coordination Committee, appointing former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Bello Masari, as the new chairman.
The party also reassigned the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, who was initially named chairman of the committee, to the position of treasurer as part of the reorganisation.
In addition to the leadership changes, the ruling party expanded the committee’s membership from 73 to 90 members in what it described as a move to accommodate a broader range of party stakeholders and ensure inclusive representation across various interest groups.
Among the newly inducted members is Senator Barry Mpigi, alongside several other notable APC leaders and party chieftains whose appointments are expected to strengthen the committee’s operational capacity.
Party officials disclosed that the restructuring forms part of the revised composition of the 2026 APC National Convention Central Coordination Committee.
The adjustments, according to the party, were made to reflect zoning arrangements and address strategic political considerations ahead of the party’s national convention.

The National Convention Central Coordination Committee plays a critical role in organising and coordinating activities leading to the APC’s national convention, which is expected to shape the party’s leadership structure and policy direction ahead of future electoral contests.
Political analysts view the reshuffle as part of the party’s broader efforts to balance regional interests, consolidate internal unity, and position the APC for upcoming political engagements, including preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The expansion of the committee is also seen as a strategic attempt to broaden participation among party stakeholders, ensuring that diverse viewpoints are represented in the planning and execution of the convention.
The APC has yet to disclose further details regarding the specific responsibilities of newly appointed members, but party insiders indicated that the committee would soon intensify preparations for the national convention, which remains a key event in the party’s internal democratic process.
With the reconstitution of the committee now in place, attention is expected to shift to the committee’s rollout of operational plans and timelines for the 2026 national convention as the ruling party continues its efforts to strengthen its organisational structure.
