Popular Nigerian pastor and founder of Omega Fire Ministries, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has publicly condemned Nigerian leaders in the wake of the recent deadly attack in Jos, Plateau State, calling it a glaring example of failed governance.

In a post on his social media platforms, Suleman accused political leaders of prioritizing their ambitions over the safety and welfare of citizens. “The Jos attack is yet another sign that leadership is failing—leadership that places politics above the protection of human lives,” he said.

Suleman criticized what he described as the misuse of public resources for pre-election activities, warning that future generations would judge today’s leaders harshly for enabling practices they once opposed.

“Instead of squandering our collective resources on pre-election activities and political ambitions, future generations will judge whether today’s leaders are enabling and repeating what they once strongly opposed,” he added.

The pastor emphasized that while he believes in the power of prayer, it cannot substitute for the responsibility of leadership. “We need compassionate leaders, yet the current ones show little empathy. We are exhausted; it is deeply draining,” Suleman lamented.

Expressing solidarity with the victims, he concluded: “We stand with the families who have lost their loved ones and pray for the strength to endure the immense pain of their loss.”

Experts in governance and public safety note that Suleman’s comments reflect widespread frustration among Nigerians over recurring security lapses.

Dr. Funke Adeyemi, a political analyst based in Lagos, said: “Religious leaders like Apostle Suleman play an important role in holding political leaders accountable. His condemnation underscores the growing demand for responsible governance and proactive measures to protect citizens.”

The recent Jos attack, which claimed multiple lives, has sparked national outrage and renewed calls for security reforms, highlighting the ongoing challenges facing Nigerian authorities in safeguarding vulnerable communities.
