Armed with AK-47s, waistbands, busload of kidnappers flee before angry youth; abandoned driver names leader, herbalist

With all their guns and amulets, a busload of kidnappers found themselves in disarray when a horde of angry youth confronted them at Uga, Aguata LGA, Anmabra on the weekend.

One of the criminals however lost a limb—and his dignity in the hand of the angry youth.

During interrogation, the suspect said he came from community in Nnewi South local government area.

His gang members stormed Uga around 10 am, and started shooting non-stop to scare off the residents. They commandeered motorcycles for the operation.

The youth in the neighbourhood however mobilized, and surged towards the advancing criminals.

The mass of the resistance struck fear into the kidnappers. Armed as they came, and scooted away on their motorcycles, according to sources. The youth already barricaded the road, and the bus driver hit a snag.

He came down and tried to run for it, but the crowd seized him, clobbered him enough to immobilize him. All the amulets and waistbands all over hi could not prevent a machete gash,

Stripped, the kidnapper then revealed the identity of their leader and herbalist who prepares charms for them.

The police said there was no official report yet.

Anambra has been going through a lot of pains from kidnappers, ritual killers, and secessionists.

Governor Chukwuma Soludo said his administration  was making efforts to ensure security of life and property in the state.
