The Nigerian Army has arrested the notorious bandit ‘Sule Yellow’, who had been openly boasting about his criminal activities, including kidnappings, on the social media platform TikTok.
According to army sources, Sule Yellow had gained notoriety after posting videos in which he flaunted abducted victims and threatened communities, drawing widespread condemnation from the public and authorities alike.
“The suspect has been taken into custody following intelligence-led operations. His activities on social media were being closely monitored, and he will face prosecution under Nigerian law,” a senior army official stated.

Security analysts say the arrest is a significant win in the ongoing fight against banditry in northern Nigeria, where armed gangs have increasingly used social media to instill fear, recruit accomplices, and publicize their attacks.
“Criminals exploiting social media platforms to flaunt kidnappings is a growing challenge. This arrest sends a strong signal that law enforcement agencies are capable of tracking and apprehending such offenders,” said Dr. Chukwuemeka Okafor.
The Nigerian Army confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the extent of Sule Yellow’s network, recover victims still in captivity, and identify any accomplices who assisted in his operations.
Authorities have also called on social media platforms to collaborate with Nigerian law enforcement to curb the dissemination of content glorifying violent crimes, warning that continued online flaunting of criminal acts could lead to harsher penalties under anti-terrorism and criminal laws.
The arrest is expected to boost morale among communities affected by bandit attacks and demonstrates a proactive approach by the Nigerian Army in tackling armed criminal networks using modern technology for intimidation.
