Members of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on the Shiite Crisis yesterday met behind closed-doors in Abuja, where they deliberated on the modalities of the probe of the alleged massacre of members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) in Zaria, Kaduna State.

The meeting was not open to the media and members of the panel shunned attempts by journalists to get briefing on its outcome.

Chairman of the committee, Senator Ahmad Lawan, was not available when journalists went there to obtain details of the meeting.

But, a member of the committee, who would not want his name in print, confirmed that the meeting was held and that the panel resolved to carry out a factfinding mission to the scene of the attack in Kaduna on Monday next week.

The senator also said members of the committee will in the course of the tour, visit the state Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, the Emir of Zaria and prominent members of the sect to ascertain what exactly led to the clash between the disciples of Sheik Zakzacky and some soldiers.
