Manager of Arsenal F.C., Mikel Arteta, has played down growing excitement around his team’s title prospects despite the club opening a seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

The Gunners strengthened their position after edging past Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. 1–0 in a hard-fought encounter at the Amex Stadium. The result came as their closest challengers, Manchester City F.C., were held to a 2–2 draw by Nottingham Forest F.C. at the Etihad Stadium.

England international Bukayo Saka, who captained Arsenal for the match, scored the decisive goal early in the first half, securing a crucial three points for the North London side.

Speaking after the match, Arteta acknowledged the difficulty of the fixture and praised his players for their resilience following a demanding period.\

“This was a really difficult one after everything we’ve been through in the last few weeks,” Arteta said in an interview with TNT Sports.

He added that the competitive nature of England’s top flight means every match presents a different challenge.

“Every game in the Premier League offers you different things. Big credit to the boys because the effort they put in is astronomical,” the Spanish tactician said.

Despite Arsenal’s comfortable lead over defending champions Manchester City, Arteta insisted his team would remain focused on maintaining their performance levels rather than getting carried away by the standings.

“We did what we had to do and that is what we will continue to do,” he said.

The victory keeps Arsenal firmly in control of the title race as the season progresses, although Arteta’s cautious tone reflects the club’s determination to take the campaign one match at a time.
