While the PDP presidential candidate might be holding on to his embattled party chairman Iyorchia Ayu, it appears key supporters of the PDP candidates want Ayu hanged  by his word before the 2023 general election.

While he has refused to take a side all along, Gov. Emmanuel Udom, the Atiku Campaign Council chairman,  is of the opinion people must make their word their bond.

The Akwa Ibom governor blindsided Ayu while responding the pulling out of the clique belonging to Rivers Gov. Nyesom Wike on Atiku campaign council.

Wike and his boys, including four governors, former ministers, and former governors, have insisted Ayu must go before the bad blood Atiku’s primary victory created could be cleared.

Speaking on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Udom said Nigerians must learn to fulfill the promises they make.

“One thing I discovered about politics and life is that people should try to do what they said they would do. That’s the crux of some of the problems.

“If I say I would do this when A happens, let me keep to that. If I say I will do B when C happens, let me also keep to that.

“Everybody has the right to express himself however he wants.

“The earlier as a country we keep to our words and promises, the better for everybody.

When he was reminded the party constitution spells out how national official could leave office, Udom alluded to the Bible.

“Some things are lawful but not all things are expedient,’ he said. “I’m coding my expression here. So let look at those things that are expedient for peace sake.

“I believe somebody like me if I know, even as lawful as that thing may be, if it is expedient for the sake of peace and for us to move, I think I can take certain actions.”

Among those who have pulled out of the campaign council are Oyo Gov Seyi Makinde saddled with the southern directorate, party stalwart Bode George, and Benue Gov. Samuel Ortom.
