Despite the surprise pull-out by the Rivers Gov Nyesom Wike-led clique of the PDP from the party’s presidential campaign council, nothing much will give, according to many of the PDP stakeholders.

For instance, the campaign council inauguration will still come up on September 28 as planned. And chairman Iyorchia Ayu is going nowhere.

In an interview with the Punch, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, said all the programmes the party planned will go on as scheduled.

“The constitution of our party is supreme and the conduct of our affairs must align with it. Again, we are a party with tremendous respect for the law. So, all we have set out to do will take place as there is no reason whatsoever to do otherwise,” he said.

Members of the Wike-group on the council, including Oyo Gov. Seyi Makinde, former Minster Jerry Gana, former vice chairman Bode George, and others pulled out on Wednesday. They insisted Ayu must resign.

The National Daily reported Wike in emergency meeting on Thursday said it doesn’t matter they forced the BoT chairman Walid Jibrin to resign; the presidential candidate, the party chairman, and the campaign D-G are all northerners.

Since the Rivers governor lost the presidential primary to Atiku Abubakar, Wike has been stirring upheavals in the party, claiming it’s pro-north.
