Weeks ago, vigilantes and hunters at Jab Jab and Binarin, in Karin Lamido, Taraba, routed a band of kidnappers that invaded the villages, killing seven of them. The criminals, numbering 50, however came back full force early on Wednesday to wreak carnage.
The second cut actually wet deep. No fewer than 15 villagers, including three housewives lost their lives in the dawn attack. Houses were torched, too.
There were no security agents around to deter the bandits while the attack lasted.
“As l speak to you, there are no policemen or soldiers in Binnari but we are told that soldiers are on their way to the area,” a resident later said.
DSP Usman Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer of Taraba Police Command, confirmed the attack.
“The police are now on ground and are making effort to restore normally,” he said, adding he had no casualty figure for now.
There has been increase in insecurity across the country and efforts to contain the trend have not yielded the desired result.
