Bangladesh has banned it’s citizens from using Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, YouTube and other social media platforms.
This was disclosed by Global Eyes News on its official X account on Friday, August 2, 2024. The implication is that from Friday, access has been restricted to these widely-used social media apps throughout the country.
This follows a previous shutdown of Meta from July 17 to July 31 which was implemented in response to unrest related to quota reform protests.
This announcement comes hours after Turkey announced it’s ban on Instagram.
