The US President was also scheduled to  meet with President Emmanuel Macron of France, including Prime Minister Mario Draghi of Italy, to deepen consultations before the G20 and later the worldwide climate change forum.

Joe Biden is making diplomatic overtures to European leaders in the face of his dwindling domestic policies, as well as the rising tensions with China and Russia.  President Biden, accompanied by his wife, Jill Biden, accordingly, commenced on international tour on Friday in Rome, Italy, where he met with Pope Francis at 12.00noon to deliberate on global issues such as the COVID-19pandemic and climate change.

It was gathered that “the Vatican visit is a mere prelude to a five-day diplomatic tour that will be crucial not just for Biden, but also for the world.”

Leaders of the G20 will be “gathering this weekend for the Group of 20 summit of the world’s largest economies, amid a pandemic in which inequalities are increasingly raw and as supply chain woes and rising energy prices threaten economies worldwide.”

After the summit, Biden and many of the European leaders will move to Scotland for COP26, a global summit on climate change to save a warming planet from disaster.
