Bolaji Ogunmola is facing intense backlash online after defending IK Ogbonna over controversial remarks made in a recent film.

The criticism followed a viral movie scene in which Ogbonna made derogatory comments about Yoruba women, sparking outrage across social media platforms. Many users accused Ogunmola, who also served as the film’s producer, of either scripting or endorsing the offensive lines.

Reacting to the controversy, Ogunmola denied involvement in writing the dialogue, stating that the remarks were not part of the original script but were improvised by the actor during filming.

“I didn’t write the script it wasn’t even in it. He improvised those lines, and I couldn’t cut them. There are established processes in the industry. It’s the director’s film and vision, not the producer’s,” she explained.

She further maintained her stance when questioned, emphasizing that editing decisions fall under the director’s authority and cannot be altered unilaterally in a professional production setting.

Despite her clarification, the backlash persisted, with many critics expressing disappointment over the handling of the scene. The controversy eventually led Ogunmola to deactivate her social media account.

The incident has since reignited conversations around cultural sensitivity, accountability, and creative control within the Nigerian film industry.
