The results of the English Premier League (EPL) games may not not have been desirable so far at the Emirates, but there is finally one thing bringing delight to Arsenal at the moment.

Willian da Silva who joined Arsenal on August 14, 2020 in a free transfer from Chelsea had two years left on his £240,000-a-week Arsenal contract.

Interestingly for the Gunners, instead of staying at the Emirates or asking for a pay-off, the Brazilian had torn up his contract and will instead return to Brazil to sign for Corinthians

National Daily can confirm that the 33-years’ gesture was said to have left Arsenal directors amazed.

Meanwhile, the development could help the former Chelsea midfielder secure a return to Brazil where he is tipped to secure a deal to rejoin Corinthians.

“Following positive and constructive recent discussions with him and his team, he will be leaving for a new opportunity with Corinthians in Brazil, where he began his career,” the club said in a statement.

“Everyone at Arsenal wishes Willian and his family well for the future.”

Not only is the 33-year-old saving Arsenal £20.5m, he is also set to take a 70 per cent pay cut to return to his former club.

Arsenal directors are said to be amazed by Willian’s gesture.

There is no doubt that Willian has been an exemplary professional since he moved to the Premier League eight years ago and he wants to leave English football with his head held high.

Sadly, the Brazilian who accepts that his move to Arsenal from Chelsea last summer has not worked out, is wishing everyone at the club all the very best for the future.

Nonetheless, the Brazilian had earlier enjoyed a trophy-laden spell in the west side of London before he crossed over to north end scoring 63 goals in 339 appearances for Chelsea after arriving from Russia’s Anzhi Makhachkala in 2013.

Willian leaves England having won two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League.
