Breaking: Tinubu arrives Lagos after UK trip, set for Eid el Kabir celebration

President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have returned to Lagos in the early hours of Friday following a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the presidential aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport at approximately 1:15 a.m.

The president and his entourage were received by top government officials, including Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila. Also present at the airport were Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

President Tinubu is expected to remain in Lagos to celebrate Eid al-Fitr before returning to Abuja to resume official duties at the Presidential Villa.

During the visit, the Nigerian leader and the First Lady were hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla at a state banquet held at Windsor Castle, underscoring the diplomatic significance of the trip.

President Tinubu also held bilateral talks with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at Downing Street, where discussions focused on strengthening cooperation between both countries.

As part of the visit, Nigeria and the United Kingdom signed several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), particularly targeting port development and expanded trade relations.

The agreements are expected to enhance economic collaboration, boost investment, and deepen long-standing ties between the two nations.

President Tinubu had departed Abuja on Tuesday for the official visit, which was undertaken at the invitation of the British government.
