Millions of Chelsea fans are beginning to express concerns over what they consider unnecessary onslaught on Chelsea FC of England or deliberate suffocation of the club by the British government over the Ukraine invasion by Russia. Chelsea fans all over the world are worried that despite the voluntary decision of  Roman Abramovich to give up the ownership of Chelsea, the British government has continued to stifle and suffocate the club with sanctions, threatening the existence of Chelsea, which is an English club not Russian football team from origin.

Roman Abramovich had at the outbreak of the Ukraine war volunteered to sell Chelsea and give the proceeds to victims of the Ukraine war. He sacrificed the $1 billion loan owed him by Chelsea management.  But the British government proceeded with sanctions that would lead to the extinction of the English club that have attracted millions of supporters across the world.

The United Kingdom (UK) has suspended temporarily several accounts and credit cards operated by Chelsea as part of the sanctions against Roman Abramovich, Chelsea owner.

This was part of the sanctions against the Russian-born billionaire Abramovich, whose assets are frozen by the British government. While the accounts are frozen, Chelsea, an English Premier League club was permitted to continue all “football-related activities” but cannot operate as a business. The club is being banned from selling match tickets or merchandise.

It was gathered that Chelsea have been negotiating with the British government on amending the license and easing the restrictions since Abramovich had given up the ownership of the club and new investors have volunteered, UK banks on Friday, announced the freezing of Chelsea accounts.

Abramovich had put Chelsea on sale on March 2, promising to liquidate Chelsea’s £1.5 billion ($1.95 billion) debt and commit sales proceeds to a new charitable foundation to support victims of the Ukraine war. The British government obstructed the sale of Chelsea, the European Champions League defending champion and World Club Cup champions,  with sanctions. Fans of the English club have been expressing fury over the British government actions against Chelsea.
