President Muhammadu Buhari was at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Abuja, on Wednesday for on-the-spot assessment after the prison was attacked by terrorists on Tuesday evening.
The Minister of Defence, Bashir Magashi, had earlier stated that terrorists had attacked the Kuje prisons to release their members, saying that the 64 Boko Haram members detained at the prisons escaped in the attack.
According to the Defence Minister, “Most likely, they are Boko Haram because we have a sizable number of Boko Harams that are in detention.
“Presently, we could not locate any of them. I think there are about 64 Boko Haram (members) in prison, they have all escaped.”
The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) had revealed that one personnel of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and four inmates were killed during the invasion.
