President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday convened security council meeting in Abuja, the third in the month of July.
The meeting may not be unconnected with the incursion of bandits and Boko Haram terrorists into the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, and the ambushing and killing of three soldiers of the Presidential Guard on patrol between Kubwa and Bwari within the week.
Participants at the Thursday security council meeting at the State House, Abuja, include the Chief of Defense Staff, heads of the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy, the Inspector-General of Police, DG of DSS, National Security Adviser to the President, among others.
Some members of the National Assembly in the Senate, had on Wednesday moved for the impeachment of the President, issuing six weeks ultimatum to President Buhari to tackle the intractable insecurity in the country or be removed from office. The lawmakers were chanting solidarity song of “All we are saying, Buhari must go!”
