In an exhilarating final held at the FIFA Goal Project in Abuja, Community Action Through Sports (CATS) Ladies of Lagos triumphed over Plateau United Queens, winning 2-1 to secure the title of the inaugural Girls Play Football Tournament.
Plateau United took an early lead in the 9th minute with a goal from Agnes Otata, but CATS responded decisively with two goals from Ebube Anyanwu in the 50th and 54th minutes.
Head Coach Chinasa Ukandu celebrated the victory as a landmark achievement, emphasizing her team’s determination and hard work.
As champions, CATS Ladies received a cash prize of N2 million, while Plateau United Queens were awarded N1 million as runners-up.

The tournament, praised for its role in advancing women’s football and empowering young girls, also featured accolades for various participants, with notable support from organizations including the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Federal Housing Authority.
Dignitaries, including Olympic legend Mary Onyali, highlighted the tournament’s potential impact on female athletes nationwide.
